Punchcafé @Mu.ZEE
Due to its success, we are extending this connecting activity!
During our final FULL HOUSE collection presentation, one artwork truly stands out: the installation The Course of Empire by Elen Braga. In this piece, the artist takes you on a journey through her story, recreating the imaginary landscapes of painter Thomas Cole, enriched with elements from her own life and the history of her homeland, Brazil.
This panoramic tapestry, an impressive 9 meters wide, is entirely hand-punched and made of wool.
Punch needle is gaining popularity among craft enthusiasts, and for good reason! Punching is incredibly fun: it’s like painting with wool, allowing you to create stunning artworks on fabric.
Would you like to try this technique? Interested in learning? Or simply looking for a fun activity to enjoy with friends or family, either before or after your museum visit? Come to the punch needle café in our museum café! Whether you stay for 10 minutes, half an hour, or just watch while enjoying a cup of tea, we’re open continuously.
At the punch café, you can contribute to a piece started by another visitor, and who knows? Your woolen lines might become part of a cushion or wall tapestry displayed in the Mu.ZEE café!
This technique is suitable for children aged 8 and up, but always under adult supervision. Working together makes it even more enjoyable!
We offer this activity for free on the following days:
