This, of course, is a work of the imagination - Wendy Morris
This publication was published in response to the Wendy Morris exhibition. This, of course, is a work of the imagination in Mu.ZEE in 2017-2018 that was part of the many events organized by Gone West, refections on the Great war / commemoration of The Great War. The starting point in the story is the ship SS Mendi that sailed from Cape Town to Le Havre, but never reached its final destination: on February 21, 1917 it sank and 615 men lost their lives. This shipwreck sank into the turmoil of the Great War. This, of course, is a work of the imagination balances between past and present, history and current events. it is a quest for a larger story that takes the reader to a complex South African history of segregation - and current events.
