Tornado - Pascale Marthine Tayou

Tornado was the solo exhibition of Pascale Marthine Tayou in Mu.ZEE. It was the culmination of an intense collaboration that started in early 2018 with a "prologue" entitled Ik ben Gentenaar. In anticipation of the final solo exhibition, a work of art was added periodically in one of the collection arrangements in Mu.ZEE. Tayou challenged the museum not to play it safe, but to work with him from day one. In this sense, Mu.ZEE functioned as a laboratory, where a number of ideas were tested spatially. Under the guise of moving into what has become rigid, the artist meant activating what he himself calls the "frustrated" museum space. The traditional exhibition trajectory was pushed aside and the emphasis shifted to being on the road. All this was reflected in the exhibition catalogue Tornado
