The Mu.ZEE collection comprises more than 6000 works, including masterpieces such as James Ensors’ Self-Portrait with Flowered Hat, Vertigo by Léon Spilliaert, The Cart by Constant Permeke, The Lovely Month of May by Evelyne Axell and Luc Tuymans’ The Nape. Together these works provide a comprehensive and varied overview of Belgian art history, from 1850 until the present day.
In this category you will find a selection from the contemporary art collection of Mu.ZEE. The overview came about as part of Digitising Contemporary Art (www.dca-project.eu), a major digitising project in which Mu.ZEE participated, together with 24 European art institutions. In the coming years, Mu.ZEE will actively employ the knowledge obtained from participation in the project to digitise and put a large proportion of its collection online.
